EXIF remover
Drop a JPEG, PNG or WebP file below. This tool reads the EXIF block in your browser, camera model, GPS coordinates, software tag included, removes it, and gives you a cleaned file to download. The image never leaves your device.
What is inside an EXIF block
EXIF, Exchangeable Image File Format, is a structured set of fields most cameras and phones write automatically into every photo: camera make and model, lens, shutter speed, ISO, orientation, and, if location services were on, GPS latitude and longitude to within a few metres. Editing software often adds its own name and version to the same block on export.
| Field | What it reveals |
|---|---|
| GPS latitude / longitude | Where the photo was taken |
| Make, model | Camera or phone used |
| DateTimeOriginal | When it was taken |
| Software | Editing or generation tool used |
This tool also removes IPTC, XMP and C2PA markers alongside EXIF, in one pass, on JPEG, PNG and WebP files.
This tool removes metadata, it doesn't change pixels. PassReal also processes the pixels.
Questions
What is EXIF data
A block of fields a camera or an editing tool writes into an image file: make and model, lens, exposure settings, sometimes GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken, and often the name of the software that last touched the file.
Does this remove GPS location data
Yes. GPS coordinates live inside the EXIF block, in the GPS IFD tags, and this tool removes the entire EXIF segment, coordinates included, along with IPTC, XMP and C2PA markers.
Is my file uploaded anywhere
No. The removal runs in your browser's JavaScript engine. The file is read locally and the cleaned copy is generated locally, no network request carries the image.
Does removing EXIF affect image quality
No. EXIF lives in a separate segment from the pixel data. Removing it edits the file structure, not the compressed image content, so there is no quality loss and no re-encoding.
